ICE Annual Meeting 2025 Highlights Continued Progress in Chemical Emergency Cooperation
The 2025 ICE Annual Meeting was held on 5 June in Brussels, bringing together national ICE centres, industry representatives and European partners to advance cooperation on chemical emergency response.
The meeting opened with a guided visit to the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), offering participants a first-hand look at the EU’s civil protection and crisis coordination mechanisms.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration with DG ECHO, with updates on the integration of ICE into the EU emergency response framework, plans for joint training activities, and the development of a dedicated communication platform.
Participants also shared insights from recent incidents and national initiatives, underscoring the importance of coordination, information sharing and continuous capability development across the network. Updates on MAR-ICE activities and upcoming initiatives, including new digital tools and enhanced communication systems, were presented.
The meeting reaffirmed ICE’s central role in supporting an effective and coordinated responses to chemical emergencies across Europe.
